Do Couples Who Use Cannabis Have More Sex?
There is a lot of talk out there on the internet about how cannabis can enhance your most intimate encounters – but a lot of it is anecdotal evidence as people share their experiences combining the two activities. Interestingly, a study published in October 2017 found that those who use marijuana regularly have about 20 percent more sex than those who don’t report using the herb at all.
Conducted by Andrew J. Sun and Michael L. Eisenberg of Stanford University conducted their research based on analysis of data from the National Survey of Family Growth from 2002, 2006-2010, and 2011-2015. Sponsored by the federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention the survey included responses from 28,176 women and 22,943 men ages 25-45 years old, with the average age being about 29 years old for both genders.
The survey asked both how many times they had sexual intercourse in the last 4 weeks, but also how often they had smoked marijuana in the previous 12 months.
The study found that women who used cannabis daily also had sex 7.1 times over the previous 4 weeks, compared to only 6 times over the same time for non-users. Women who used cannabis on a monthly and weekly basis had sex 6.7 and 7.3 times over the past 4 weeks respectively.
Similarly, the study found that men who used cannabis daily had sex 6.9 times over a 4-week period, compared with non-users who had sex 5.6 times in the past month. Men who used cannabis on a monthly or weekly basis had sex 5.7 and 6.0 times a month.
“In other words, pot users are having about 20 percent more sex than pot abstainers,” said the study’s senior author, Dr. Michael Eisenberg, assistant professor of urology at Stanford.
Interestingly, pairing cannabis use with sex is more common than one might expect – and it is true across races, ages, education levels, income groups, religions, health status, marriage status and whether the respondents had children or not. However, this study is not meant to suggest that using cannabis will increase your likelihood of having more sex.
It has long been said by cannabis users that the herb can enhance your experience by making time appear to have slowed down so you can truly enjoy yourself, and contributing to increased sensitivity, which is reported to intensify orgasms. Knowing that, it is not surprising that more and more couples are pairing cannabis with their time together.
This is why cannabis products that are specifically meant to enhance your intimate moments are growing in popularity – like Evergreen Organix Intimate Massage Oil. The THC infused massage oil is a fragrance-free topical that was created specifically for use in sensitive areas to enhance your experience in the bedroom.
