How to Make Cannabis-Infused Soap
Aches and pains can become a real problem in life. The same applies to skin conditions such as acne and eczema. The good news is that making your own cannabis soap could provide help with all of these issues.
This is because cannabis topicals are considered by many as a good natural way of reducing pain and soothing the skin. You can visit a weed shop to pick up the cannabis products you need, and have fun creating soaps that are exactly as you want them to be.
Two ways to create cannabis soap
There are two ways that you can go about making your own cannabis soap. You can buy a soap base, from a craft or hobby shop, and add extras, like cannabis oil, to it. Alternatively, you can start from scratch and use lye that you have to mix yourself. If you decide to start from scratch, you need to make sure that you handle the lye correctly as it can be dangerous.
Creating cannabis soap from a soap base
If you do not like the idea of handling lye, simply use a soap base when creating your cannabis soap.
Ingredients
● Soap base (a 2 pound brick should suffice).
● 1 bottle of essential oil.
● 1 bottle of soap colorant.
● 1 bottle of cannabis coconut oil or tincture.
● Silicone soap molds.
Process
Place 2-3 square inches of soap base in a microwave safe dish and microwave until melted (30 seconds at a time).
Stir the essential oil and colorant into the liquid that you now have. Choose the shade and smell that you want.
Stir in the cannabis oil or tincture. You will normally need around 10-15 drops.
Pour the mixture into the soap molds.
Leave the mixture to harden in the molds for 30-45 minutes.
Remove the soap from the molds.
This is the easiest way to make cannabis soap. However, you can start from scratch if you prefer.
Creating cannabis soap from scratch
Lye is the key ingredient if you are going to start by making your own soap. It helps to clear the dirt and oils from your skin, when you use the soap. As mentioned earlier, you should be careful when handling lye as it can burn before it's diluted. For this reason, you need to protect your skin and your eyes. You also need to gather the ingredients that you require.
Ingredients
● 2.32 ounces of lye.
● 4 ounces of water.
● 5 ounces of olive oil.
● 5 ounces of cannabis oil.
● 6 ounces of coconut oil.
● 2 teaspoons of essential oil if you want to add it.
Process
Mix the lye and the water together, making sure that you do not inhale the fumes or splash yourself with the lye. You will need to use a heat resistant glass dish for this part of the process as the liquid need to reach a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit before you use it.
Use a separate heat resistant dish to combine the olive oil, cannabis oil and coconut oil. This mixture should also be heated to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Add the lye mixture and blend with a hand mixer until the mixture thickens to a texture that is able to create peaks which flatten slowly.
Add the essential oil if required.
Pour the mixture into a soap mold or square pan, cover it and leave it to set for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, cut out pieces at the required size and leave them to cure for at least a week before using them.
If you want to add something extra to your soap, during the process, you may want to buy some cannabis flower or leaf from a weed shop.
Using cannabis soap
Once you have finished creating your own cannabis soap, you need to use it. As with any soap, it will clean your skin. Cannabis soap is also good for cleansing the skin, especially for anyone whose skin is sensitive.
The cannabis oil, and any essential oils, in the soap can make your feel either relaxed or invigorated, depending on what strain of cannabis you choose.
Cannabis soap is especially useful for people who suffer from skin ailments. Using it can help to address a pH imbalance in the skin. It can also help to stop skin from drying and cracking.
Making and using your own cannabis soap can be very rewarding. The soap that you make can be used to keep your skin clean while also providing relief from aches and pains and helping with skin conditions.
